Description
Microneedling is a much sought-after treatment, because despite being minimally invasive it can very effectively provide such a wide range of benefits.
Microneedling can:
Soften frown lines
Brighten your skin
Smooth & refine skin
Alleviate Signs of ageing
Lighten hyperpigmentation & sun spots (age spots, liver spots)
Reduce scars – acne scars, chicken pox scars, indented surgical scars
Improve poor skin texture
Make dull skin luminous
Shrink enlarged pores
Reduce diffused redness
Repair free-radical damage
Stimulate collagen
Plump out wrinkles
Firm & tone
Hydrate
Seal in moisture
When will I see results?
Improvements may be seen after a single procedure, although full results require time for collagen regeneration and skin cell renewal.
Really significant results can be seen with as few as 3 consecutive treatments!
Very short recovery time.
- Face Before Microneedling
- Face the day after Microneedling
- Face one week after Microneedling
How microneedling works
triggers your body’s healing response
stimulates collagen and elastin production, (improving elasticity and firmness, and hence minimising lines and wrinkles)
gives active ingredients a direct route to where they can work, vastly improving their effect.
stimulates formation of new capillaries, leading to to reduction of scars and skin rejuvenation, i.e., improved skin texture, firmness and hydration.
can be used to treat Acne scarring, Rosacea, lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring, open pores and encourage regrowth after hair loss
Treatment Details
Microneedling (also called Collagen Induction Therapy) is a type of treatment that uses a handheld device holding tiny sterile needles to create minute channels in the skin.
These small pinpricks prompt the body to create a natural wound healing response, which renews the skin cells.
As part of this response, the dermis, the deeper structural layer of skin, is prompted to rebuild, triggering the production of collagen and elastin. This often gives an almost immediate plumping effect.
The micro-channels also allow topically applied actives like Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid (the active used in Dermal Fillers) to reach the deeper layers of the skin and so treatments with medical-grade microneedling devices can provide very effective skin rejuvenation.
Specifically, it can be used to treat Acne scarring, Rosacea, lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring, open pores and encourage regrowth after hair loss
Microneedling is a fabulous treatment for all skin types; not only is it minimally invasive, but because it does not remove the surface layer or dead skin cells like lasers or peels there is far less risk of pigmentation issues making it suitable for even those with darker skin tones.
Procedure and applicability
We use a multi-needle pen for this treatment (not a dermaroller).
Pens like the Dermapen® and our m.pen[pro]™ use a single use sterile tip with an array of tiny needles to make channels into the skin to a depth in the skin appropriate for the response needed. Because of the placement of the needles on the disposable tip, and the speed at which they pierce the skin it does this without the tearing that has been associated with dermaroller treatments.
Roller | Pen | |
---|---|---|
Entry angle | Twists, can cause many small grooves | Needles go straight in and out |
Head Size | Large; difficult to reach some areas | Small; can reach everywhere |
Needle Depth | Fixed | Adjustable, so e.g. shallower on forehead, deeper on cheeks |
The microneedling device
We use the m.pen[pro]™, a mechanised hand held device from the renowned and hugely respected pharmaceutical company Mesoestetics. The pen’s small head allows more precise placement of the microchannels, letting us work safely under and around the eyes, treating ‘crow’s feet’ and frown lines and between the nose and mouth; plus, its variable speed and depth settings allow the treatment to be tailored to make it more comfortable.
It can also help to stimulate collagen and elastin under the eye area where we first begin to lose volume, which will in return help to disguise dark circles and eyebags.
It’s the ideal solution if you’re looking for an alternative to wrinkle-relaxing injections or dermal fillers.
